Features The usefulness of the mobile overbed table is dramatically increased by Nurture’s research-driven design. By observing how doctors, nurses, family and patients use the table for nearly everything that happens in the patient room, Nurture’s design for the new Opus™ Overbed Table focuses on accommodating these activities in a simple, but thoughtful way. The new design has two top surfaces: one stationary at standing height, ready for care providers as they walk into the patient room, the other a height adjustable patient surface with non handed concaved shape and soft corner radii for patient comfort. The care provider surface has an integrated spill retaining edge with no seams and additional small extension surfaces that can be pulled out or hidden away. The surface is supported by an open “cubby” that can accommodate a chart, or other materials, helping to keep the surface clear and ready for primary work. This surface also provides a secondary surface for the patient. The patient top features a concave surface that can be brought much closer to the patient than traditional rectangular tables. The surface also has an integrated spill retaining edge with no seams and integrated cup holders to help control unnecessary spills when the over bed table is pushed, pulled, and quite literally banged around. The table rises without needing to actuate a lever. This provides a safety feature if the bed were to be raised high while the over bed table is extended over the bed rail. The surface is lowered by activating a lever available on either side of the patient surface. An optional personal drawer with a small vanity mirror can be placed under the patient surface.
